“Have fun with sport, in a unique place“. This is the aim, according to Francsico Prieto, Aqualandia’s cyciling coordinator, when discussing the summer event, which is now a date to pencil in on the Benidorm water park’s annual list of events.
Aqualandia is not only Europe’s largest water park, but once a year, it becomes the biggest open air sports centre too, welcoming the largest European Cycle Meet, in the “Schwinn Cycling” format. As Prieto says, “Today, Aqualandia hosted athletes of many different nationalities, with the aim of enjoying the activity which they have in common and to have some fun and there’s no better place than the best water park around for doing just that”.
The event took place today, Saturday 8th June at the Wave Pool, from 11am to 8pm. Throughout the day, floats and sunshades were replaced by hundreds of exercise bikes and under the guidance of international professionals and leading sportsmen and women, they simply did not stop peddling to the rhythm of the latest hits. Ramón Martínez, Nuria Ripoll, Ángel Mata, Leila Martínez, Concha Campillo and Pedro Picón were able to delight both cycling enthusiasts and the rest of the Aqualandia visitors, with the master classes and expert advice for out door excercise cycling.
