The television is one of the most important means of communication that there is, and being on TV has always been synonymous with prestige. A company or a person may appear on television for various reasons, and Aqualandia has done so on several occasions; however, its latest TV appearance is both curious and beautiful.

There is nobody in our country who hasn’t heard of the TV series ‘Cuéntame cómo pasó.’ The series is a mixture of fiction and reality. For more than 15 years, the Spanish have followed the steps of the Alcántara family – a family who, through their adventures and misadventures, have taught us about many of our country’s most important moments in history.

Currently, the series is in the year 1985.  This is a very special year for Aqualandia because it was the year we were founded. Coincidentally, the protagonists of this series spend a little time in Benidorm in 1985 and, of course, the narrator tells what our city was like at that time.

While speaking of beaches, nightclubs, and the many tourists that, like the protagonists, visit Benidorm to enjoy the sun, the narrator also mentions a milestone that occurred that year in Benidorm and in Spain: the opening of a water park, the largest in Europe, next to the Sierra Helada mountain range.

We were so excited to see ourselves on the show! And the fact of the matter is that this series has true fans and it’s a fun way to learn about the history of Spain. Thank you for considering our park to be part of our country’s history. For us, our founding was an important event, and it makes us really proud to see how it was also important for many others.

In the video, images from our first year of existence can be seen… people having fun on the slides, our logos.  At that time, Aqualandia wasn’t even our name; instead, it was Aqualand. Now, more than 30 years later, Aqualandia is an established name that is known by all.

Do you remember when we celebrated our 30th anniversary a couple of years ago? It was a very important event, it has been three decades since Spain first got into the world of water fun along with us and, additionally, as the as the TV program mentions, we were the largest water park in Europe.

It is for that reason that, although sometimes we are surprised to see ourselves in places like this famous serious, it’s also not that strange, is it?  After all, we are part of the history of Spain and we are grateful to be recognized in this way.

The story will continue in a very short time.  We hope you are all prepared for non-stop enjoyment…. Our opening day is very close, we’ll keep you updated.
